I decided to add one day per week at least where I talk about my own thoughts. I enjoy writing and always have so much to say. If you like these “Random thoughts”, let me know and I will keep it up 🙂
So today is Sunday and I am looking back to my last week in Bodrum, West-coast of Turkey. I am here on vacation staying in our summer cottage at the beach. I don’t know why but time seems to speed up when I want to relax. I wish I could start my research here, lying on the beach!
The highlight of this week was definitely the boats ride on my cousin’s birthday. Spending time at the sea had always been very special to me. There is something about the color of the waves, the light breeze, the gulls, the sun glistening on the wet stones in the sand … it is like a therapy for me! I forget all my stress of this last year, all diseases I have witnessed, all patients I have seen that had a deadly illness. I hope I will be able to maybe go on a longer boats tour when I am done with med school. I would be refreshed and full of energy when I’ll start working as an intern.
Also, the food this week was definitely amazing. I enjoyed a wonderful serving (well 3 cups) of ice-cream and it was delicious. I will have it again before we leave on Tuesday, I felt like I was a little child again. We also went to restaurant’s with the whole family. Unfortunately, my digestive system is very sensitive (can’t have black pepper, gluten, lactose), so now I am bloated the whole time but it was totally worth it!
Next week we are going to fly to Istanbul to visit my grandmother. My parents origin from Turkey but half of my family lives in Germany. Still, I always make sure to spend some time with my grandma, as she practically raised me for the first 4 years as a kid (she stayed in Germany at that time). For your information, she is 97 years old! Believe it or not, she is still quite active. She holds onto the rails on her balcony and does exercises like squats! Fitness motivation seems to be a thing in our family.
My workouts this week
As this blog is about living a healthy fit lifestyle and I write so much about eating real food and intense workouts, I guess it makes sense that I share what I have been doing!
As I have mentioned before, I work out with the videos of “Fitnessblender“. If you are working out at home (or also in the gym) I highly recommend their workouts. They have everything from strength training to HIIT to Yoga, over 400 videos!
Today is my second active rest day. I swam in the sea, we took a walk along the beach and enjoyed the sun.
I write a lot about the importance of recovery and rest days but I struggle a lot with it myself. I am always so motivated to work out and enjoy moving my body. Today I kept myself busy by writing tomorrow’s post on macros, packed my bag and cooked some food.
It will be different once I have started research for my doctoral thesis, of course! I will be happy to squeeze in a short quick workout, I guess … .

Let me know if you liked this random post as a reflection of the week and my thoughts. Be honest and tell me if you find this boring 🙂 I won’t mind!
How was your week? Have you been working out and eating real food? 🙂
Wish everyone a relaxing weekend!
