My internship is done! The past few weeks passed so quickly but I really enjoyed working in the cardiology department.
I was able to practice examination of patients, which is something we do not do often in medical school.
Now I have about 2 weeks to prepare for the next semester. My schedule will be quite stressful but I will make sure to fit in blogging and fitness as best as I can. I am looking forward to learning more about intensive care the most, as well as intubation.
On Friday, my last work-day, one of the doctors asked me if I am working on a doctoral thesis. As I had told you before, I was going to start a project in October, but my professor cancelled on me. I told him that and that I am searching for another project. This doctor is working at our university clinic for 2 weeks now and is pretty awesome. He just came home from a conference in Boston where he pronounced a speech on a cardiology topic. Thus, I was beyond excited when he asked me if I would be interested in taking part in one of his projects!
We will meet up next week and he will show me everything I need to do. I will not have to take a free semester and can do the project while studying. Thus, I will be done with the work by june and then write my doctoral thesis. By the time I have hopefully passed my last exam in September, I will have finished my thesis. At least that is the plan.
I am trying not to be too enthusiastic, as the happening of the last month were a frustration. But then I also think that I should not let that stop me and take a risk. Just because the last professor cancelled on me does not mean this doctor will do the same. And in addition to that, this time we already have enough patients (around 100). Also, this study is much more interesting and deals with prevention of one of the most common causes of death nowadays: strokes.
I am really looking forward to the next weeks. I am curious how everything will turn out.
At the beginning of this week, I took it easy as I was still recovering from my illness last weekend. I am feeling like myself again now and enjoying every workout. I have started incorporating more Single-legged Good Mornings into my routines and they left my Glutes and Hamstrings so sore. But I can feel they are very effective and strengthen my lower back and abdominal muscles as well. Form is crucial though, so I do not rush and try to feel the right muscles do the work.
This was my week of workouts:
I am actually very happy that my internship is over as I can enjoy my meals more now. We did not have time to have lunch and I always quickly ate a protein bar or some chopped up vegetables I had packed.
I have reposted some of my first articles this week, the “Tighten the Lower Body Series”. I will be writing a lot the next 2 weeks to have enough content to deliver when the new semester starts. I have 15 drafts right now and 2 finished articles. There are so many ideas I have for the future of this blog but they might all take some time. Right now, I am just going with the flow and enjoy writing and the bigger projects will be done too.
But first, I need some clarification about my doctoral thesis, of course.
That’s it for this week. I have finished writing an article for next week and started the second one too but I guess I need a little break now.
How was your week?
Wish you all a wonderful relaxing Sunday!
