… calmly get back up, smile and very politely say, “You hit like a bitch”.
Another week has passed and this week involved some major changes for me.
As I have shared with you all, I was going to start research for my doctoral thesis in October.
Well, unfortunately, in clinical studies, one is very dependent on patient’s compliance. The numbers of patients were not enough, so my professor decided to cancel the project. In fact, the numbers haven’t been great for a long time but nobody told me.
I have heard a lot of horror stories from my co-students about professors rejecting them, moving away, cancelling the project.
This is why I had been very careful and tried to make it clear to my professor, that the project must be completed until April. I applied a “free semester” from October until April for the research.
Well, none of that is going to happen, anyway! I guess you can imagine my face, when my professor told me this on the phone.
However, I am very lucky because I immediately contacted the dean of students and I was able to schedule my classes for the next semester. I do not want to imagine what it would have been like if I would be “stuck” at home from October until April!
What did I learn from this?
Be more careful the next time and maybe do not participate in a clinical study.
I am definitely going to write a doctoral thesis. Nobody will stop me from achieving that. Right now, my last year of medical school is about to start and I am actually excited about that!
I am actually pretty proud of myself because the news did not throw my off track, as my parents or close friends had thought it would. They kept asking me “Are you okay?” but I truly am.
I think the reason for this is that I know where I am going. I know what my dream job is and how to achieve that. That thought soothes me and no matter what obstacles I will face on my way, I will get there in the end.
Fitness-wise, this was a very good week. Maybe I am not stressed at all because I was able to work it off with my workouts? I am lifting quite heavy again and my muscle imbalances are decreasing more and more.
Full Day of Eating
It was requested I share a full day of my meals, as an example. In fact, I eat the same foods each day most of the time. I only eat things I enjoy and that make me feel good.
I tracked my food and was surprised that my caloric intake dropped again. This is why I have been tracking food around once a week because sometimes, I am not hungry at all and I don’t like to stuff myself. Normally, according to my polar watch (which is pretty accurate), my caloric intake needs to be around 2100-2200. However, my food for that day was around 1900 … . It is not a huge difference but it is not my goal to lose weight. I have been tracking these last two days and made sure to eat enough food. Maybe my body is not adapted to the change in environment yet, as my appetite was much better on vacation.
The future of this blog
These last four weeks I have been posting almost every day of the week. I have been on vacation and used the free time to write as much as I could. However, in the next three weeks, my internship in cardiology will start and I will not be able to write as much.
I am still going to blog but the more scientific, fitness and nutrition related posts will decrease to once a week. I will write them on the weekend and post during the week.
Writing my articles takes a lot of work and time because I reread many topics in my medical books, research on the internet and try to include as much information as I can. I want to keep the quality of the content on this site high, thus the quantity will have to decrease.
I hope you will understand that and not think I am neglecting this blog … .
Schedule for the next 3 weeks:
Once – twice a week: Exercise spotlight (my favorite exercise for a specific body-part and my tips to activate the muscles properly)
Once – twice a week: Food and its nutritional values
Once a week : Longer article, either fitness or nutrition related with scientific / medical background
When I have completed my internship, medical school will start but I will still be able to write.
This was my week!
How about you? Any lemons life has thrown at you? I hope you made some apple juice with them 😉
Wish you all a Happy Sunday and a great start to the new week!
