Another week has passed by!
Today I will be travelling all day, as we are heading back home to Germany. These past 4 1/2 weeks have passed really fast but it was a wonderful vacation.
My current thoughts:
As I had written in an earlier blog, I am currently at my grandmother’s house, who is 97 years old. This year she had hip surgery and the doctors were not sure if she could get through the surgery at all. However, my grandmother has always been a fighter and I admire her strong will to stay alive.
I had not seen her for a year and this time around, she has changed a lot. She forgets many things, even my name and it is hard for me to accept that. My grandmother raised me for the first 4 years, thus I have a deep connection with her.
I am actually very happy I started this blog because writing keeps me busy and I can depress my emotions … I know that no one is immortal and my grandmother had a long life. She has seen both world wars and has raised 8 children plus me. She has gone through difficult times in her life but never gave up. This has always been an inspiration for me as a child and my source of motivation when I was in pain myself.
Next week I have an appointment with my professor for my upcoming research for my doctoral thesis. I am extremely nervous for that. I really hope that everything will go well.
The Highlight of this week was definitely the delicious food at my cousin’s. As you can also read in my posts about nutrition, I eat healthy foods most of the time and have some treats along the way.
Before vacation, I did not eat anything unhealthy / processed for 2 months, I simply did not crave anything. I had a piece of 99% chocolate on some days and ate nut butters with fruit as dessert. Now, here in Turkey they prepared my favorite dessert of all times, profiteroles, so I had to have some of that!
This vacation is the first time I have not lost much weight or muscle and managed to stay active and pain free. I will write a post on my tips to stay healthy and lean on vacation soon!
My workouts this week:
Fitness Tip of the Week
This is something I have been trying out for 2 weeks now and I have seen great improvements in Glute Activation and building shapely legs:
Do not use your hands when doing a Jump Squat.
Maybe you were already doing this without noticing, but I always used my hands to create more force when jumping up. Now, if height is your goal, you can definitely keep using your hands. But if you would like to shape your legs and lift your glutes a little bit more, or if you struggle to feel jump squats in your glutes, do not use your hands. Push through your heels and only use your lower body to create force.
This caused me to slow down significantly but it is much more efficient.
I utilize the same principle with Burpees, or any other kind of exercise that involves jumping.
Try it out and let me know what you think!
That was my week! What about you? Any new encounters you made this week? Have you stayed on track with healthy eating and working out?
Please wish me luck and send some positive vibes for my appointment on next Wednesday! 🙂
Wish you all a wonderful Sunday and a fresh start to the new week!
